October 2015 OKC Swapmeet

Cool Shovelhead.

Cool VW Trike.

Cool Indian.

AMF 2-smoke Snowmobile Oil.

Water fountain is stuck on and the drain doesn't work right either.

This is about the most worthless officially licensed thing I have ever seen. Yes, I bought, but only because he bundled it with a chopper peg. Evidently this is a wired landline telephone with a wired headset.

I'm not sure who thought this was a good idea. I blame Willie G.

Here's my three pegs for the day.

I got these killer stickers for free from a former Snap-on dealer. I know I had the Rick Mears sticker from when I was a kid. That dude had some killer old Snap-on promotional stuff, including a few girlie clocks that I remember a few mechanics having in my dad's shop as a kid. I would have bought one for my garage, but I figured they are not PC and my sons would look at them too long like I used to.

Uncle Lummie's Zippo Tricks

There are a ton of Zippo lovers and haters in this world. I love the classic design. I don't smoke, but I do love the Zippo. The Zippo will light in windy conditions and very cold conditions unlike a butane lighter. The biggest issue for the occasional/camper/prepper type user is that the fluid dries. I carry a spare fluid can in my car bags and camping equipment, but here's another decent solution that I picked up from Columbus.

Take a skinny bicycle tube and cut it into a rubber band.

Fill the lighter, close it, and put the band on the lighter. This will keep the fluid in the Zippo for several weeks. Additionally it makes the closed lighter a little more water resistant, in case the lighter and/or you wind up in water by accident. If you're really having a bad day, then the band could be used for tinder as well.

Another great tip from Columbus, who smokes a pipe. Get a pipe insert for your Zippo. See the chimney with the large hole on the left? It makes lighting a campfire or candle much easier. It will still light a cigarette or whatever, too. You don't have to buy a pipe lighter just to get a pipe insert though. Zippo does not sell empty cases or inserts.  However, if you send in a warranty letter and your lighter and request a pipe insert, then they will return your lighter with a pipe insert and your original insert.

Another Phat Hook up

Heavydutyt came through with a mess of cool stuff for me. Some cool pegs, I have never seen a square one like that before. An Okie plate, I'm not sure how that got to Indiana. An Easyrider from '78, an oil pressure gauge, and patch.

Shout out to Panhead Fred

He straight hooked me up with some nice pegs for the pegboard. I think I should build a bike around the rail spike ones.

Mid-West Mini-Fest Sunday - Wrap-up

I rode back to Illinois with Pib to stay his house and we stopped at his club's clubhouse and enjoyed smoked turkey and good company.

This is Roy's '69.

This is Pib's Indian.

Mid-West Mini-Fest Saturday - Party

This is my attempt at some form of artistic statement.

Fritz is clearly the reason we can't have nice things.

Fred has some corn with Dean. I was actually the farest rider this time instead of Dean. Dean congratulated me, but said it didn't count because I wasn't on a Shovelhead.

It wasn't quite the blue man group, we did a special performance art presentation. Glow stick men dancing.

Here's the best video I could get, but the performance was way better to see in person.

Mid-West Mini-Fest Saturday - Holler House

I have read about the oldest sanction bowling alley in the nation. It's two lanes in a basement of a tiny bar in Milwaukee. It was built in 1908 and still has hand set pins and pencil and paper scoring. It's a five generation family owned place.

THIS IS...

HOLLER HOUSE

Cathy tells all about the history of the place.

Down to the lanes. She had to get her grandson to go down to set pins so we could bowl a few frames.

All the champions bowl here.

Cathy says to remember that the down stairs restroom is the door to the left past the foul line.

This is me trying to pick up the spare.

Steve trying to get his spare.

Penny giving it a go.

Randy says, "I'll show my daughter how to bowl better!"

Pib barely misses the gutter.

Dang it, I didn't get a picture of KentR bowling, but it totally happened..

Cathy set up the Shot-Ski.

We need to get KentR a stool next time we do this.

Randy and I totally going crazy for the "crack" popcorn. This was cooked by the 89 year-old matriarch in a 60 year old cast iron pot. If you go to the Holler House ask the great grandma if see knows any dirty jokes, but be warned they are pretty raunchy.
