Vulcan 1500 Nomad/Classic Seat Interchange

"Will a Mustang Seat for an 1500 Fuel Injected Classic fit my 1500 Carb'ed Classic?" Or vice versa this question has been addressed like a thousand times, but it keeps coming up. Mustang will always say, "No.", but that's not true.

The front rider seat of any 1500 Classic or 1500 Nomad will fit any 1500 Nomad or Classic. The pillion pads can work if you have the little parts that make the difference, but the bolt hole spacing the fenders is the same. If you have a Carb'ed Classic Mustang seat and want to put it on a FI, buy the little bracket from Kawasaki. If you want to put an FI Classic or Nomad Stocker onto your Classic then make sure you get the under piece that bolts to the fender.

  1. Hi. I know this is an older post but it is related to a question and issue I have on my 1500 Classic. Bought a Mustang seat set and while attempting to remove the bolt #130 from the passenger seat I discovered it was spinning free. (Over tightened). So my problem is I need to remove the seat but the bolt and threads are screwed up. I have removed the fender to access the underside and tried all kinds of pressure from below and above to get the threads to 'catch' So should I attempt to cut the head off the bolt form the top of drill through the head or do I try drilling from the under side hopping to get enough of the bolt out to remove the rest?

  2. I would try to cut the head off with a dremel. I would put some tape everywhere on the paint. If things are really bad be ready to use a regular nut on the underside.

    1. Anything from a '02 1500 Nomad/Classic will fit an '08 1500(NOT A 1600). You'll just need the bracket, if you can't get he bracket from the rear fender of the '02. Just get the bracket from a dealer or salvage dealer.

  4. Will a front mustang seat from a 96 Carbed 1500 classic fit on a 2001 Fuel Injected 1500 Nomad? I have been told that the frame for a Fuel injected is wider than a frame for a Carbed bike and so it will not fit. Is that correct?

    1. The frame is different, but a 1500 seat will fit a 1500. 1600 seats will not fit 1500s.

  5. great site you have. i'm new to the nomad with a 2003 vn1500fi...it has a maustang seat and pillion installed on it. the pillion is only held on by the forward bolt (how scary is that?). I just want to make sure the factory braket (32046-1458) is all I need and it will latch into the slot under the pillion. thanks and I look forward to browsing more of your information on here.

  8. Ray.....I now have a 2006 Honda VTX 1800. Love the bike but needs better seat. I had a Vulcan 1500FI classic. The stock seat on it was the most comfortable I have ever had. Would the Vulcan seat work on the VTX 1800?
